The promotional campaign for Leiria’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture starts on January 25.
“This is the moment when intentions are materialized, lines of action are defined and the sustainability bases of this candidacy are proven. The moment when you proudly say, We are Candidates”. The words of the Coordinator of the Executive Group of Rede Cultura 2027, Paulo Lameiro, mark the arrival of the pre-selection eliminatory moment before the final decision, with the defense of Leiria’s candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2027 to take place in March, between the days 7, 8 and 9, in Lisbon. In order to involve the territory and all the inhabitants in the message of the candidacy “Curate the Commons/Curar o Comum” a communication campaign will start that divulges the motto of the candidacy and points to its essential axes. The campaign will follow the Bidbook evaluation and defence phase over a month, launching several themes, starting with the image of Castelo de Leiria, attached, from January 25th until the end of February.
Starting from the candidacy’s motto – HEALING THE COMMON – already announced with the presentation of the Bidbook and the launch of the film, the campaign unfolds its meaning and the central themes of the candidacy in the different messages of the campaign, which will cross the traditional local media with the digital media, which includes Mupis, Cubes, Billboards, Digital Campaigns, Local Press, Local Radio, Buses and Outdoor communication pieces.
“This is an application for listening and listening to the territory. This is an application made in a network, plural, inclusive, the application of a territory of encounter, which welcomes, cares, cures. This is an application that starts from a unique cultural, natural and human heritage to affirm a participatory, diverse and sustainable Europe. This is a territory capable of being a prototype of an idea of Europe, the territory where Menino do Lapedo taught us that Neanderthals and Sapiens cohabited and created together. The involvement of all Rede2027 entities in the candidacy campaign will be crucial to affirm the candidacy’s belonging to the entire territory, multiply the campaign’s visibility, create greater identification of the territory and the people with the candidacy”, concludes Paulo Lameiro.
