After the bombshell announcement of 4 Non Blondes and Joss Stone, she surprises again and prepares to leave the audience completely breathless and eager for June to arrive soon: Cyndi Lauper is the new confirmation for Legends Day and will perform on the World Stage on June 27th.

With a career that has shaped eras and inspired millions, Cyndi Lauper takes the stage before Rod Stewart, in a simply epic and unrepeatable lineup. It’s a meeting of titans, two of the greatest voices in global music on the same day, on the same stage, and with the same energy. With this confirmation, Legends Day now gains a new meaning and a new dimension; the 2026 edition is preparing to enter and remain in history.

CYNDI LAUPER DEBUTS ON THE WORLD STAGE AT ROCK IN RIO LISBON
With her unmistakable voice, irreverent attitude, and a repertoire full of timeless hits, Cyndi Lauper brings one of the most anticipated moments of this edition to Rock in Rio Lisboa.
The artist debuted in the early 80s with the album *She’s So Unusual*, a worldwide phenomenon propelled by classics like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “Time After Time,” which reached the Top 5 on Billboard and are a constant presence on radio, events, playlists, and social media trends. With this success, Cyndi Lauper became an undeniable reference in pop and rock music. The success was so great that, in 1986, she released her second album, *True Colors*, which reached number 4 on Billboard, consolidating her as one of the greatest voices. Since then, she has released more than 10 albums, remaining true to her roots. to her artistic essence.
The artist has a trajectory of rare distinctions and more than 50 million records sold: 15 Grammy nominations, two American Music Awards, seven American Video Awards, eighteen MTV Awards and, in 2013, became the first woman to win the Tony Award for Best Original Score for the musical Kinky Boots. She was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (2015), received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2016) and was distinguished with the Billboard Women in Music ICON Award (2018) and the United Nations High Note Global Prize (2019). During 2024 and 2025, Cyndi Lauper toured the world with the celebrated Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, an absolutely epic 68-show tour that captivated fans everywhere. The tour ended in grand style with two memorable nights at the Hollywood Bowl, joined by renowned names such as Joni Mitchell, Cher, Angelique Kidjo, John Legend, SZA, Mickey Guyton, Trombone Shorty, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, and Jake Wesley Rogers. These special shows were recorded for the program A GRAMMY® Salute to Cyndi Lauper: Live from the Hollywood Bowl, which aired on CBS.
Offstage, she is a longtime activist for women’s rights and the LGBTQIA+ community. In 2008, she co-founded True Colors United, dedicated to combating the problem of homelessness among LGBTQIA+ youth, and in 2022 launched the Girls Just Want To Have Fundamental Rights fund, created to support causes related to women’s rights and health.

Rock in Rio is the international brand responsible for the world’s largest music and entertainment event. Created in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, it is a significant part of world music history. The event has already had 24 editions, 130 days, and more than 3,816 musical acts. The new City of Rock will feature a new stage, a new Route 85, and a new space celebrating 20 years of “For a Better World,” in addition to the already known World Stage, Galp Music Valley, Rock Street, Super Bock Digital Stage, Continente Chef’s Garden, ESC Online Sports Bar, Pisca Pisca Ferris Wheel, Pepsi Slide, Gato Preto VIP Area, among others.
