D.A.M.A. in Quarteira on New Year’s Eve
The Municipality of Loulé is preparing another big New Year’s Eve party. The city of Quarteira is once again the centre of celebrations in this municipality, with a program that spans four days and which will have as its highlight the D.A.M.A. concert.
The 11th São Silvestre Race marks the start of the initiatives, on December 28th, in a sports night that combines physical activity with socializing. At 8:30 pm, this race begins, which is already a classic and which, year after year, brings together close to 1 thousand athletes of all ages. Participants will walk the avenues of Quarteira, next to the sea, to burn off Christmas calories, but with their eyes on the New Year’s Eve party.
These days, Passeio das Dunas becomes a stage where some local and national artists will pass, to entertain the local community but also the many tourists who are in the Algarve these days. On the 29th, at 9:30 pm, musician Marc Noah, accompanied by his guitar, takes the stage. An hour later the party takes place with Time Machine (Revenge of the 90’s) featuring the biggest hits of the 90’s.
And speaking of musical hits, on the 30th, at 10 pm, the program proposes yet another return to the past, through a Tribute to Dire Straits where there will be no shortage of true anthems from Mark Knopfler’s band such as “Money for Nothing”, “Sultans of Swing” or “So far Away”. This night ends with DJ Kamala, the alter ego of João Fernandes, one of the main names in Portuguese electronic music.
On the 31st, on the most exciting night of the year when thousands of people are expected in the city of Quarteira, a DJ will also perform the opening act: DJ Luís Luz (9:30 pm). An hour later the most awaited moment takes place, the performance of the “pretty boys” of national pop, D.A.M.A. Francisco M. Pereira (Kasha), Miguel Coimbra and Miguel Cristovinho are the central nucleus of this band from Lisbon that stands out for its infectious songs, empathy with the public and energy of live performances. Hits from a decade-long career will be sung before midnight: “Às Vezes”, “Não da” or “Balada do Asajeitado”.
And when the twelve bells ring to announce the entry into 2024, Passeio das Dunas will be presented with a fireworks display for a collective toast where there will be no shortage of champagne and raisins. The party continues into the early hours, with a performance by Quem é o Bob? the musical collective that brings all the musical heritage of the biggest name in reggae, Bob Marley.
All initiatives included in this animation program are free to enter.
There are many reasons to choose Quarteira for a mini-holiday to the South, combining the New Year’s Eve party with days of rest. In addition to the entertainment, the local restaurants and commerce proposals are a complement to the offer of what is one of the main tourist hubs in Portugal.
These initiatives are promoted by the Loulé City Council, with the support of the Quarteira Parish Council. The objective of this program is to increase economic dynamics at this time of year, as well as to promote the destination Quarteira/Vilamoura and the municipality of Loulé.
