19-year-old artist d4vd — one of the most exciting upcoming talents of the past two years — recently announced his debut album, WITHERED, set for release on April 25.
In anticipation of the project, d4vd also releases the incredible new single “One More Dance”, available now. To celebrate the album’s release, the artist will perform a special show in his hometown on April 27 at White Oak Music Hall (Outdoor Lawn) in Houston.
Following on from their first two EPs — the critically acclaimed “Petals to Thorns” and “The Lost Petals” — d4vd’s WITHERED is a brilliant amalgamation of disparate influences moulded into a visceral, cohesive experience. The album takes the listener on a journey through the natural evolution and life cycle of the rose—a visual element ubiquitous in d4vd’s creative aesthetic thus far—and is meant to be listened to sequentially, like chapters in a book, as the decline of a relationship unfolds. It’s an album full of emotion, where love is found, lost, created and destroyed with every chorus and melodic line.
Since bursting onto the music scene just a few years ago, d4vd has quickly transformed from a home-recording artist to an international phenomenon, racking up over 100 million streams per month. His breakthrough came with 2022’s viral songs “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” both of which surpassed an impressive 1 billion streams, making him one of the first artists to achieve two songs in the “Billions Club” without ever releasing a full album.
Born in Houston, d4vd found his musical calling creating soundtracks for his “Fortnite” montages, recording his first song at age 17 and quickly being signed to Interscope’s prestigious Darkroom label. Since then, he’s collaborated with The Kid Laroi and Laufey, opened shows for artists like SZA, headlined his world tours and contributed to projects like “Arcane” and “Invincible.” Along the way, d4vd’s sound has evolved into a deeply emotional, DIY approach, exploring the highs and lows of relationships with raw intimacy and honesty.
For his debut album, d4vd went back to his roots, splitting his time between creating at BandLab in his sister’s closet in Houston—where he first started making music—recording sessions in London alongside Jack Hallenbeck, Scott James, and silent$ky, and collaborating in Los Angeles with songwriter Ryan Tedder and Tyler Spry. His creative process goes beyond music, taking inspiration from anime and cultivating a unique visual universe, full of recurring themes and characters. Known for his infectious enthusiasm and unconventional approach, d4vd continues to captivate audiences, with plans for an electrifying Coachella debut and much more to come.
