“Da Floresta Vamos Cuidar” and “Paula de Papel”, theater for the youngest

Cinema S. Vicente, Seixal

Cinema S. Vicente, in Aldeia de Paio Pires, will host, in January, two theatrical shows for the youngest.

«From the Forest Let’s Take Care» is the name of the play that Animateatro puts on stage, next Sunday, January 15th, at 11 am, for ages 3 and up. This show is a premiere, being the 33rd creation for children by this theater company from Seixal, lasting 50 minutes.

The forest is the starting and ending point of this show. This same forest, rich in biodiversity and resources, essential for life, is in danger: fires, invasions of non-native species and uncontrolled felling of trees, making it necessary to change this trend, valuing the forest as a fundamental resource for our lives. and to the lives of all those who live there, as well as friendship and teamwork, making the little ones aware of the idea that taking care of the forest is a duty for all of us.

The synopsis reads: “The forest, home to many beings and many riches, has a new inhabitant: Clara, a macaw who fled the fires in the Amazon and found her new home and friends in the Portuguese forest. But not everything goes well, there is a complicated animal that does not respect her house and puts the forest in danger… »

On the following Sundays, January 22nd and 29th, also at 11 am, it will be the turn of O Bando (Palmela) to interpret «Paula de Papel», lasting approximately 60 minutes.

«Paula de Papel» invokes painting to build a theatrical object in which the body and movement give life to the paintings of the painter Paula Rego. On stage, all the characters are Paula and everything starts with the blank paper that is the central element of the show’s plastic construction, a role that is always present in the children’s daily lives, inviting them to interact with the scenic space and with the narrative.

The journey, therefore, begins to be drawn with the blank paper on which the pictorial, visual, social, and literary universe of Paula Rego will be printed. The trip is developed for women, being directed by Juliana Pinho, actress, and director who coordinates the formation of the theater O Bando, accompanied by Rita Brito (actress) and Margarida Mata (artist and cultural mediator). The show is aimed at the age group between 6 and 12 years old, trying to put a magnifying glass on the fear and restlessness that are pressing in childhood.

Tickets cost €5 for each show.
