Italian singer Damiano David returned to Portugal, this time as a solo artist. He had the biggest crowd of the festival, with fans waiting 8 hours to see him in the front rows.
Damiano David took to the stage to perform “The First Time”, “Voices”, and “Tango” and quickly won over fans at the Bela Vista park with his energy and music. The Italian singer, best known as the charismatic lead singer of the glam rock band Måneskin, has become a global sensation since Måneskin won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021, captivating audiences with his powerful vocals, flamboyant stage presence and unique fashion sense.
“Mars” followed, “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” a Mark Ronson cover, “Zombie Lady”, “Too Sweet” a Hozier cover, supported by a talented band and the fans, who sang along with him at the top of their lungs. This was the best festival show with the biggest audience, and the best came at the end.
“Angel”, “Tangerine”, “Born With a Broken Heart” and “Solitude” (No One Understands Me) closed the show and the Meo Kalorama 2025 festival.
Damiano David stepped into the spotlight with Måneskin and a musical style firmly rooted in rock, to which he adds the band’s theatricality and bold attitude. Combining catchy melodies with raw rock energy and incorporating groovy bass lines and rhythmic elements.
Damiano’s vocal range and versatility allow him to seamlessly switch between emotional ballads and energetic rock anthems. He often cites influences such as Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger and David Bowie, but reinterprets them with a contemporary twist.
In 2024, Damiano David began a solo music career, releasing singles such as “Silverlines” and “Born with a Broken Heart”. His first solo studio album, Funny Little Fears, was released in May 2025.
His solo work is an exploration of a more pop-oriented side of his art, going beyond the strict confines of Måneskin’s rock sound. He has mentioned a desire to create a “world” with his music, complete with visual imagery and a cohesive aesthetic. This solo endeavour allows him to explore different styles and lyrical themes that may be more personal to him, although he has clarified that his solo career does not mean the end of Måneskin.
