October 14, 15 and 16
Lusofonia Festival, Jubilee Stage, Dubai
The group Danças Ocultas is preparing for three performances within the scope of Expo Dubai on 14, 15 and 16 October.
The concertina quartet will be invited to participate in the Lusofonia Festival, a unique event in the Portuguese language that takes visitors on a journey through the music, dance and culture of Portugal and the PALOP. The festival’s alignment includes several musicians and cultural presentations from Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Brazil, East Timor and São Tomé and Príncipe.
The Danças Ocultas by Artur Fernandes, Filipe Cal, Filipe Ricardo and Francisco Miguel are – and it is permissible to write them, bearing in mind that they have been in a career for three decades – one of the great treasures of contemporary Portuguese music.
The unusual concertina quartet is an unparalleled case in the modern history of Portuguese music: even having adopted popular instruments, the group managed to take their music to the most respected national and international venues, share stages with classical orchestras and collaborate with important names in music, from Rodrigo Leão to Carminho among others.
