Danny Glover, Samuel L. Jackson and Liv Ullmann Receive Honorary Oscar

Danny Glover will receive at the “Governor Awards” ceremony on January 15, 2022, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, an Oscar irregularly awarded by the Academy to recognize an individual whose humanitarian action has honored the film industry.

Other honorary Oscars will be presented in January to Samuel L. Jackson, Liv Ullmann, and actress, screenwriter and director Elaine May.

International “Cultural Icon” Samuel L. Jackson has featured in films by Spike Lee (“Do the Right Thing”) and Quentin Tarantino (“Pulp Fiction”, “Jackie Brown”, “Django Unchained”).

Liv Ullmann, 82, was internationally recognized for her role in Ingmar Bergman’s “Persona” in 1967, before starring in several other films by the celebrated Swedish director, with whom she had a daughter.

Elaine May, 89, has distinguished herself primarily as a screenwriter for “The Sky Can Wait” (1978) and “Primary Colors” (1998), both Oscar-nominated films.
