The 52nd edition of ModaLisboa, which presents collections for the next fall/winter, continues today with proposals from, among others, David Ferreira, Carlos Gil, Awaytomars, Luís Carvalho and Ernest W. Baker.
Although ModaLisboa takes place mainly in the Carlos Lopes Pavilion in Lisbon, today the parades begin and end in areas of the city by the river.
The first to step in, Constança Entrudo chose to present her creations with “handmade fabrics and prints, inspired by a visit to a Madeira embroidery factory that closed in 2017” at the Mustik Warehouse in the Janelas Verdes area.
The parades then continue at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion with the proposals of João Magalhães, IMAUVE and David Ferreira, who, like Constança Entrudo, are included in the LAB platform, dedicated to new talents.
In the first collection that he signed in his own name (previously presented as Morecco), João Magalhães “found inspiration in ‘A Thermodynamic Imaginary’, a showcase of Argentinean structures Tomas Sacraceno”.
Imauve, in the collection that will present today, “destroys the concepts of the past and proposes a deceleration“. David Ferreira created pieces for a woman “with personality and a very unique, modern, dynamic and positive attitude” that “plays with the style codes of the brand without being taken too seriously.”
After the new talents of the LAB will be the time of the ‘consecrated’ Carlos Gil, Awaytomars, Kolovrat and Luís Carvalho present their collections.
Carlos Gil promises a collection “Inspired by the painting of the early 20th century, in a mix between Neoplasticism, Cubism and Abstractionism, Awaytomars will show a set of pieces” co-created from the clothes sent by members of the collective, consumers and partner brands “, Kolovrat,” having freedom as a maxim, and nature as a key, started from the quasimágica figure of forest components, particularly mushrooms, and used them as a catalyst for the collection “, and Luís Carvalho” has as main reference some of the works the digital artist and Collage, Matthieu Bourel, which combines the traditional paper cutting and collage with digital editing, digital animation and sound design. ”
Today’s journey ends at a warehouse in the Matinha area, with the premiere at Ernest W.Baker’s ModaLisboa, the Portuguese company Inês Amorim and the North American Reid Baker.
The parades are accessible by invitation only, but, like previous editions, there will be in the vicinity of the Carlos Lopes Pavilion various activities open to the public, such as a temporary store, exhibitions, workshops, masterclasses (in the areas of Sustainability, Fashion Communication and Tailoring) and a live atelier, “where several actors from multiple disciplines will be invited to customize a piece of clothing.”
