Music, gastronomy, crafts, martial arts, calligraphy, and even beauty routines. From October 3-10, the Museu do Oriente dedicates a week to Korea, in a program that intersects tradition and modernity and showcases how this country conquered the world, from television series to pop music, from traditional masks to K-Beauty trends.
The Celebrate Korea initiative marks two significant dates in the country’s history: the National Foundation Day of Korea – Gaecheonjeol (October 3) and Hangeul Day (October 9), the alphabet created in the 15th century by King Sejong. Over the course of seven days, visitors will be able to see objects from the Museum’s collection that are not normally accessible to the public, such as Korean masks, and discover multiple expressions of this country’s culture through workshops, courses, conferences, and demonstrations open to the public.
Highlights include traditional gastronomy workshops, K-Beauty workshops, and K-Pop dance and Taekwondo demonstrations. The program showcases the diversity of a country that keeps its traditions alive while setting global trends in music, fashion, and cosmetics. The experience is completed with a market featuring Korean brands and products, on a trip to Korea without leaving Lisbon.
Organised by the Museu do Oriente, with the institutional support of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, as well as several entities dedicated to promoting Korean culture in Portugal.
