Demi Lovato releases “You’ll Be OK, Kid”
The song is part of the documentary "Child Star" about the artist and directed by herself
Demi Lovato, a global superstar nominated for the Grammys, has just released “You’ll Be OK, Kid” – listen here – an original song from her documentary, “Child Star.”
Demi said about the song: “For me, working on ‘Child Star’ was a deeply reflective experience. It allowed me to dive deep into the emotions of my childhood while connecting with others who had so many similar experiences.” She added: “As we were putting the film together, I was very inspired to write a song. The idea of relating to my younger self through the pain and struggles that came with child stardom was very important to me. I wrote the song as a letter to my inner child and hope it can give others the chance to connect with their inner child as well.”
“Child Star” explores the ups and downs of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most well-known former child stars. Through interviews with celebrities, real-life scenes, and archival footage, this film deconstructs the phases of stardom and analyzes the 20th-century entertainment system. Lovato reunites with iconic former child stars like Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, JoJo Siwa, and Alyson Stoner, among many others, to reflect on their personal experiences working in the entertainment industry, telling unheard stories. Together, they examine the next generation of child actors and actresses and how to navigate a constantly changing landscape. The film will mark Demi Lovato’s directorial debut, with Nicola Marsh as co-director, and produced by OBB Pictures, SB Films, and DLG.
“Child Star” is directed by Demi Lovato and Nicola Marsh. The film is produced by Michael D. Ratner, Scott Ratner, Miranda Sherman, Kfir Goldberg, and Demi Lovato from OBB. The executive production is by Nicola B. Marsh, Scooter Braun from SB, Scott Manson, Jen McDaniels, and James Shin. Glenn Stickley is the co-executive producer.
