Somersby Porto Pro competition schedule revealed

The countdown has already begun for the Somersby Porto Pro, the second stage of the MEO Surf League 2025, which starts next Friday and runs until Sunday, in Porto and Matosinhos, namely at Praia de Leça da Palmeira.

The best national surfers are ready to head to the waves in the North of the country and offer a top-level show in what is the most urban stage of the entire calendar, and which is now in its 20th consecutive edition.

Luís Perloiro and Francisca Veselko emerged victorious in the opening stage of the MEO Surf League 2025, meaning they arrive at the Somersby Porto Pro in the lead in the race for the national surfing titles and competing with the Go Chill yellow jersey status. They are also joined by Frederico Morais, a former world elite competitor, who returns to the northern waves to continue recovering his competitive rhythm after an injury suffered last winter.

Francisco Ordonhas, current number 2 in the MEO Surf League 2025 ranking
“I think this is an important stage in the MEO Surf League. The first stage went well and gave me a boost of confidence for the Somersby Porto Pro. I will try to do my best to be in an even better position in the fight for the national title. I will try to continue to do my best in this and the next stages. This is a competition that leaves me with good memories, especially the waves at Leça da Palmeira. It is a wave that I like and where I have already had good results and championships. If the forecast is good, I think it will be a good stage for any surfer.”

Maria Salgado, number 3 in the MEO Surf League 2025 ranking
“Porto and Matosinhos always leave me with great memories because they usually have good waves and it was where I spent my first heat in the MEO Surf League. It’s an important stage, where I want to show my best surfing and the best I can do. But above all, I want to enjoy every moment with my friends and have as much fun as possible.”

The Jerónimo Martins Group is, for the seventh consecutive year, the sustainability partner of the MEO Surf League. Through awareness-raising and beach cleaning actions, this partnership has, over the years, contributed to the preservation of biodiversity and the regeneration of ecosystems. The Jerónimo Martins Group’s ecodesign project aims to optimise the packaging of our Private Brand and perishable products, maintaining their integrity. Since its launch in 2011, the Group and its companies in Portugal, Poland and Colombia have avoided the use of more than 50,000 tons of packaging materials. In 2024, more than 450 ecodesign projects were implemented, which made it possible to reduce the amount of materials used and CO2 emissions through efficiency in transportation, in addition to increasing the integration of recycled materials in the composition of packaging.
