Eurocidade Tui-Valença hosts the professional music meeting from September 9th to 11th with the inaugural concert of the Orquestra Galego-Portuguesa de Liberação
Eighteen performances are scheduled for the MUMI 2021 professional music meeting, which will take place between September 9th and 11th in Tui and Valença. Nine names from Portugal and another nine from Galicia showed the public, professional and general public, the diversity of musical proposals that coexist in current music.
MUMI 2021 organizers presented the showcase schedule at a press conference on Friday, July 30th in Tui. He also said that during MUMI, the offer for professionals will take place at the Superior School of Business Sciences of Valença, and some of the concerts open to the public will take place in Tui, in Passeio da Corredoira and in Praza de San Fernando. The Orquestra Galego-Portuguesa de Liberação will be in charge of offering the opening concert of MUMI 2021 on September 9th.
In the case of Portugal, the selected bands are nine: Barry White Gone Wrong, Cassete Pirata, Conjunto!Avoid, Emmy Curl, Jorge da Rocha, José Valente, Kaústika, TAKATUM presents Ah!Ah!Ah! and The Guit Kune Do.
Familia Caamagno, Magín Blanco and Abanda das esperas, Oîma, Os d’Abaixa, O Sonoro Maxín, Pálida, Pulpiño Viascón, Silvia Penide and Xacobe Martínez Antelo Quinteto will be in charge of the scheduled Galician showcases.
MUMI 2021 thus closes the selection of artists and bands that will participate in the professional meeting around the music of Galicia and Portugal from September 9th to 11th at Eurocidade Tui-Valença. For Portuguese bands, a call was opened at the end of May, and the nine selected bands came out.
“The selection was difficult, but we managed to have bands from the north to the south of Portugal at MUMI”, highlights José Costa, from the organization of the meeting. In the case of Galician bands, the organization recovers the names of last year’s edition, which had to be canceled due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic; Diversity is a key word in the live music that MUMI 2021 will offer, with mosaics of bands and artists that respond to the wealth of Galician and Portuguese performances. From new approaches to traditional music to essential electronics, passing through jazz, funk and author pop, the eighteen scheduled showcases gather the varied offer from both sides of the Minho. Most of the eighteen concerts scheduled at MUMI will also be open to the general public.
MUMi is the first professional music and culture market organized by the two Iberian territories and promoted by an association that integrates companies, professionals and collectives in the Galician and Portuguese music sector, with the objective of creating a real and stable return bridge for songs from both countries.
MUMi – Músicas no Minho will take place on 9th, 10th and 11th September 2021 at Eurocidade Tui – Valença, maintaining the conditions for opportunities and good practices between the music sector in Portugal and Galicia to materialize. The meeting will bring together artists and bands, promoters, management companies, festivals, publishers, service and production companies, etc. to share ideas, create solid synergies, establish new contact networks and get to know new proposals in the first person.
The fair will feature professional programming that will include training activities (technical, legal, marketing), speedmeetings (quick meetings) between professionals in the sector, showcases with the selection of artists and bands from Galicia and Portugal, and a sector fair with the presence of companies from different areas of the sector.
There will also be concerts open to the general public with a selection of musical proposals of different styles and formats, in a program that will demonstrate the new values and figures already established in multidisciplinary shows for family and adult audiences.
