The Focus section of the festival will present a retrospective dedicated to the work of Sandro Aguilar, with the presentation of films such as “A Zona”, “Mariphasa”, “Voodoo” and “Bunker”, as well as the most recent, “Armour”.
The Filmadrid International Film Festival was created in 2015 by the cultural association Pasajes de Cine, with the aim of discovering new paths in the contemporary cinematographic landscape, and promoting the exhibition of a wide variety of author films in the city of Madrid.
The program tries to promote the first works of young talents in parallel with the latest works of renowned filmmakers.
This first retrospective in Spain dedicated to Sandro Aguilar’s career as a director will allow us to get to know in depth a creator of dense and hypnotic atmospheres, whose works submerge in a way as disturbing as fascinating in the most unfathomable emotions of human beings.
Sandro Aguilar was distinguished with awards from the Curtas Vila do Conde, Caminhos do Cinema Português, Gijón, and Oberhausen festivals, among other awards, as an honorable mention at the Venice festival, for the short film “Sem Movimento”, from 2000.
It was selected for festivals such as IndieLisboa, Turin, Belfort, Montreal, and Clermont-Ferrand, and the subject of retrospectives at the festivals in Buenos Aires (BAFICI) and Rotterdam.
