Distinguished as Best Soap Opera at the Venice TV Award 2024
Because the best work done on television deserves to be awarded, the original SIC telenovela ‘SENHORA DO MAR’, produced by SP Televisão, won the trophy for Best Soap Opera at the Venice TV Award 2024.
Among the nominees in the same category were also the telenovelas ‘Cacau’, from TVI, ‘Vai na Fé’, from Brazilian TV Globo, ‘Golden Boy’, from Turkey, and ‘Pulang Araw’, from the Philippines.
Starring Sofia Ribeiro and Afonso Pimentel, written by João Matos and Raquel Palermo, and directed by Manuel Amaro da Costa, ‘SENHORA DO MAR’ reveals to us the story of Joana, a woman who discovers she is pregnant and that this could be the best news of her life, were it not for her husband Alexandre (Pedro Hossi) being completely against the decision to have a child. When Alexandre finds out about Joana’s pregnancy, he threatens her. Faced with this, she makes the difficult decision to flee from him and, desperate, boards a boat that takes her to the Azores.
The Venice TV Award was launched as a tribute and celebration of television, increasing national and international recognition for both producers and broadcasting organizations that create high-quality products.
