One of the most proclaimed composers of Brazilian music, returns to Portugal this week, with shows scheduled for Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon and Super Bock Arena in Porto, on the 7th, 9th and 10th of June respectively.
In addition to tracks from his latest work, “D”, (‘Num Mundo de Paz’ and ‘Primeira Estrada’), although he always renews the list of classics from one tour to the next, Djavan points out that “songs like ‘Sina’ and ‘Flor de Lis’ has a permanent place in all the shows, because they are songs that the people love”.
For him, the biggest challenge in designing a new show is “designing a balanced and diverse script”.
Djavan’s 25th album brings news, such as a duet with Milton Nascimento and the participation of his musical family, among 11 new songs and re-recordings that challenge his very personal style of composing.
Something like a round-numbered record, 25, a kind of silver anniversary for the artist with his voice, melodies and recorded lyrics, “D” (Luanda Records/Sony Music) perhaps proposes a game, an enigma: a style and a thought artistic to be deciphered in the songs.
There are instant hits like “Num mundo de paz”, an irresistible melody based on traditional funk, the ballads “Primeira Estrada” or “Quase Fantasia”, the folk “Iluminado”. As there are also some of the most sophisticated songs that Djavan made in his life. In new songs, “D” seems to contain all strands of “D”javan’s creation. “Hence, perhaps, the enigma to be deciphered.
