Documentary ‘Os Herdeiros do Bairro’ awarded in American festival

The documentary ‘Os Herdeiros do Bairro’, about the inhabitants of Bairro 6 de Maio, in Amadora, won several awards of the 2020 Impact DOCS Awards, a competition that is part of the North American Global Film Awards (GFA).

The documentary tells the story of this neighborhood in the municipality of Amadora, which saw the birth of the first shack in 1994 and which has already undergone several phases of the resettlement of its population, mostly Cape Verdean.

The documentary won the Excellence Award and the Merit Award of the Impact DOCS Awards 2020, a competition that is part of the Global Film Awards (GFA), in the USA.

With this award, Help Images joins other winners of this internationally recognized award, including Oscar-winning photographer and director Louie Psihoyos for his “Best of Show 2016 – Racing Extinction“, Oscar winner Yael Melamede for “(Dis)Honesty – The Truth About Lies” and Emmy winner Gerald Rafshoon, for “Endless Corridors”, narrated by actor Jeremy Irons.
