The Douro Rock, which runs from Friday to Saturday in Régua, has as headlines Xutos & Pontapés and The Gift and is a 100% Portuguese music festival that wants to attract visitors to the region.
According to the organization, on the stage set up on the banks of the River Douro, near the city of Peso da Régua, in the district of Vila Real, during the two days will act Xutos & Pontapés, The Legendary Tigerman, The Gift, Samuel Úria, Frankie Chavez, The Twist Connection, Mishlawi and Kappa Jotta.
These are the protagonists of a 100% Portuguese festival that covers various musical styles, from rock, pop, indie, soul to hip-hop.
The organization said in a statement that on this stage the “new generations of music intersect with more consecrated names”.
Between 2016 and 2017, the festival went from 5,600 spectators to 10,800 spectators. In this third edition, the organization wants to dedicate the event.
The mayor of Régua, José Manuel Gonçalves, has already said that the festival “contributes to the affirmation and dissemination of the region.”
The mayor also highlighted the economic impact of the event, both in the restaurant and hotel sector, and said he expects the number of visitors to increase in this third edition.
Douro Rock, in addition to promoting Portuguese music, wants to spread the gastronomy and wines of this region, which is the first demarcated and regulated region in the world, and was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001.
