Duets by Carlos do Carmo brought together in a new compilation

nas lojas a 17 de março

Lisbon honors the fado singer with the inauguration of Passeio Carlos do Carmo, on March 11, at 5:30 pm

Throughout his career, Carlos do Carmo never hesitated to share the stage and studio with other voices. Let us remember, for example, the album “Fado É Amor”, all composed of duets with some of the best fado interpreters of our time.

On the 17th of March, a new compilation of duets by Carlos do Carmo will hit stores, which are living proof of how the fado singer viewed music, always privileging sharing with others, and communion.

Before the release of “Duetos”, the Lisbon City Council, in collaboration with EGEAC – Museu do Fado and the Parish Councils of Alcântara and Belém, honored the fado singer with the inauguration of Passeio Carlos do Carmo, located in the riverside area of Belém, between the Terreiro das Missas and the Jardim das Docas da Ponte.

The ceremony takes place on March 11, at 5.30 pm, with the unveiling of the toponymic plaque Passeio Carlos do Carmo, by the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, followed by a concert by Camané who will interpret five themes by Carlos do Carmo, an artist who so much and so well sang the city of Lisbon.

Interestingly, Camané is one of the voices that can be heard in the first duet of this new compilation, “Fotos do Fogo”, alongside Sérgio Godinho and which was originally part of the compilation “O Irmão do Meio”, by Sérgio Godinho. the famous “Fado Tropical”, an original theme by Chico Buarque that was interpreted in a duet with Carlos do Carmo for the film “Fados”, by Carlos Saura.

“Lisboa, Menina e Moça”, which was written by Paulo de Carvalho for the fado singer, appears in this new compilation as a duet between these two voices who worked recurrently in pairs.

Throughout this compilation we find voices from various genres and geographic latitudes, from Marco Rodrigues with “O Homem do Saldanha” (a theme that was originally included in the album “Tantas Lisboas”, by Marco Rodrigues), to Pedro Abrunhosa with “Manhã”, passing by Dany Silva with “São Crianças” or the version of the classic “O Cacilheiro” by the hip hop producer Stereossauro with The Legedary Tigerman, Ricardo Gordo and, of course, Carlos do Carmo.

“Duetos” by Carlos do Carmo is the mirror of how the fado singer’s influence knew no barriers. The compilation hits stores and digital platforms on March 17th.
