The eAwards are back with their 24th edition to help develop and reward the best project and start-up, which puts technology at the service of society. This is an initiative of the NTT DATA Foundation, for which applications are open until June 30th, through the website.

eAwards seek Portuguese entrepreneurs and startups
The eAwards seek Portuguese entrepreneurs and start-ups, who have projects in an advanced prototyping phase, based on high-impact, innovative, scalable and sustainable technologies, with the aim of generating a positive impact on society. The NTT DATA Foundation believes that innovation, entrepreneurship and talent are important vehicles in creating solutions to today’s biggest challenges.

Winner can receive up to 110,000 euros
After the application phase is complete, a jury will determine the finalist projects, which will compete for the Portuguese prize, worth 10,000 euros, in addition to an acceleration program. The local winner will also have direct access to the international eAwards final, where the winner of the 100,000 euro prize will be identified.

International Final takes place during Innovation Week
The international eAwards final will take place during Innovation Week, in October, which brings together the eAwards winners from participating countries in Europe and Latin America. This is an event that brings together entrepreneurs, experts and investors, to share experiences, solutions, methodologies and network, in a very complete and inspiring program.

Tiago Barroso, CEO of NTT DATA Portugal, states that “the eAwards are an initiative to support technological and social entrepreneurship and, therefore, it is with great satisfaction that we begin its 24th edition. In addition to an accelerator of innovative ideas aimed at the common good, the eAwards play a fundamental role in our ESG strategy. Therefore, we look forward to the business projects and start-ups that apply.”

The last edition of the eAwards Portugal, held in 2023, was won by SmartPhotonics, an anti-counterfeiting project for packaging and label suppliers, which allows customers to guarantee the authenticity of their products. It is, therefore, a relevant solution for companies producing food, beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, among many others. In turn, the international winner was the Colombian project Soy Julieta, which is developing a diagnostic device for breast cancer.

Over the past 23 years, NTT DATA FOUNDATION has hosted and supported more than 9,000 projects around the world and receives around 2,000 applications annually from projects looking for a new boost. This demonstrates the relevance of the award, but also the quality of the acceleration program and the networking platform that the eAwards represent. Portugal has already seen two projects win the international eAwards final and two others receive an Honorable Mention.
