EDP signs an agreement for US wind project
EDP Renováveis (EDPR) has entered into an agreement with Northern Indiana Public Service Company LLC for the development and construction of a 102 MW (megawatt) wind project, the company announced today.
In a statement to the Securities and Exchange Commission (CMVM), the company, held at 82.6% by EDP, explained that the ‘Build & Transfer’ agreement was implemented through its subsidiary EDP Renewables North America LLC.
“The agreement provides for the development and construction of EDPR’s Rosewater (102 MW) onshore wind project located in the state of Indiana and is scheduled to begin operations in 2020, when the ‘Build & Transfer’ “, it reads in the same note.
EDP also noted that “the conclusion of the agreement is subject to regulatory approval and other usual conditions in transactions of this nature“. With this new contract, EDPR totals 1.1 GW (gigawatts) in the US “for projects to be installed in 2019 and 2020,” according to the company.
In December, Mayflower Wind Energy, a joint venture between EDP Renováveis ‘offshore’ North America and Shell New Energies, was declared the “provisional winner” of block 0521 at the wind energy auction in Massachusetts, United States.
Mayflower, with an offer of $ 135 million (about 118 million euros), has acquired the exclusive right to develop the “federal lease” of commercial wind power at the Outer Continental Shelf off the coast of Massachusetts.
In October, EDPR and Walmart closed three contracts for the purchase and sale of wind power, which will allow the construction of three new large-scale wind farms in the states of Illinois and Indiana.
