EDPCOOLJAZZ confirms the KOKOROKO

KOKOROKO will perform at the next edition of EDPCOOLJAZZ, in Cascais. Daughter of Jazz, the London band adds a new look to classic sounds, adding afrobeat rhythms to their arrangements.

[dropcap type=”background”]T[/dropcap]he 22nd of July is even more complete with rhythm, having also the 90’s soul legend, Neneh Cherry, confirmed. One night, two great concerts filled with contemporary sounds.

Born in London, where the city’s multiculturalism brought them together, they brought West African roots to the base of jazz, creating a unique stage setting. In 2019 the band released the album “KOKOROKO”, which has originals like “Abusey Junction” or “Ti-de”, bringing the instrumental party to all fans of the new jazz school. The collective’s music is the result of a world without borders, showing in its compositions a unique sound experience.

The collective also collaborated with several bands, such as the Ezra Collective, on the last album edited by the band, “You can’t Steal my Joy”, on the track “Shakara”. Hot and electrifying rhythms that will certainly fill the stage of EDPCOOLJAZZ, infecting the audience with a swing that is so characteristic of the group, on the 22nd of July at the Hipódromo in Cascais.

Also confirmed for the same day is Neneh Cherry, the icon of the ’90s generation, which includes novelties such as the much-celebrated reissue of Raw Like Sushi (1989). In 2018, he presented the work “Broken Politics” that was especially celebrated by international critics.

For 2020, EDPCOOLJAZZ already has great confirmations such as John Legend, Lionel Richie, Neneh Cherry and KOKOROKO, next July, at the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, in Cascais, for another edition of unique concerts.
