“Education, Artistic Practices and Inclusion” in debate at the Polytechnic of Setúbal

The Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS) will host, over the 4th of November, a multidisciplinary seminar that aims to discuss the articulation between Education, Artistic Practices and Inclusion and also give visibility to national and international projects and practices in this area of ​​intervention.

The meeting, which starts at 10:00 am in the amphitheater of the School of Education (ESE/IPS), opens the discussion with the conference “Artistic Practices, Communities and Participation”, by Hugo Cruz, Artistic Director of EXE, cultural and cultural programmer investigator.

The program continues with a round table in which some examples of relevant projects in this area will be presented, such as the cases of “idoSOS – Intertwined Voices” and “Recriar-se” (in partnership with Cáritas Diocesana de Setúbal), both developed by teachers from ESE/IPS, and also from the “Balladeband”, a Danish project, which also uses musical expression as a tool to promote social inclusion and mental health.

On the same occasion, initiatives for groups with specific needs in the context of educational activities in museums will also be announced, by the voice of Hugo Barata –  professor and researcher at Universidade Lusófona and member of the COW – Center for Other Worlds, ULHT.

In the afternoon, at the IPS Nobre Auditorium, two similar artistic and social intervention projects will follow, “Recriar-se” and “Balladeband”, which will share experiences in the conversation circle “Eu tenho voz/ I have a voice”.

The seminar “Education, Artistic Practices and Inclusion” is organized by ESE/IPS and the Center for Research in Education and Training (CIEF-IPS), which is aimed at professionals and community organizations, educators, artists, students and teachers ESE/IPS and other interested parties.

The meeting will also be an opportunity to get to know some photography and painting works resulting from the “Recriar-se” project, on display at ESE/IPS facilities.
