Égide presents a tribute to Chopin with Rem Urasin on the piano

May 9, at the Centro Cultural de Belém

The acclaimed Russian pianist, exiled in Portugal, pays tribute to Chopin in a piano recital at the Centro Cultural de Belém on May 9th.

Égide – Associação Portuguesa das Artes, presents on May 9th, at the Centro Cultural de Belém, a philanthropic project that supports Rem Urasin, a Russian artist considered a true ambassador of Chopin’s music.

Acclaimed pianist Rem Urasin returns to the stage for a classical concert dedicated to the work of Frédéric Chopin. Égide, in line with its objectives, will transfer box office revenue to the artist and his family, who have lived in exile in Portugal for two years.

In this piano recital, Urasin will present to the public a program dedicated to the illustrious Polish composer, which includes iconic pieces such as Scherzo no. 2, the Brilliant Variations Op. 12 and the majestic Piano Sonata no. 3, in B minor.

With more than three decades of career, Urasin has performed in the main concert halls for classical music in Europe and is currently an internationally renowned artist and a reference pianist. However, in 2022, he was forced into exile in Portugal due to the war in Ukraine. Since then, the public has been deprived of this artist’s performances, who now take to the stage in the Small Auditorium of the Centro Cultural de Belém.

“At Égide we serve culture and believe that all artists have a stage. It is with this sense of mission that we support the return of Rem Urasin to the stage, an excellent artist who, due to circumstances, has been in the shadows. We thus reiterate our purpose of protecting art, as an expression of human singularity, and its artists”, says Ana Proença, President of Égide – Associação Portuguesa das Artes.

Rem Urasin has won several distinctions, such as awards at the 13th Frédéric Chopin International Piano Competition (1995), at the World Piano Masters Competition in Monte Carlo (2001), as well as at the Sydney International Piano Competition (2004) and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (2005).

Tickets for Rem Urasin’s piano recital are now on sale at the Centro Cultural de Belém box office, on Ticketline and at the usual locations.
