Eleven acquired the broadcasting rights of the Premier League for the national territory, for three seasons (2022/23 to 2024/25).
For the first time in Portugal, ALL 380 Premier League games per season will be broadcast live and EXCLUSIVE on Eleven.
The Premier League is one of the sporting competitions with the largest global audience and will join the UEFA Champions League, LaLiga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 in the batch of elite competitions in European football, exclusively broadcast on Eleven in Portuguese territory. Eleven thus guarantees the main games of the best players in the world, with emphasis on the Portuguese armada on English soil and with the best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo. All matches in the competition, currently played by 20 clubs, will be broadcast live, exclusive and in high definition, with comments in Portuguese.
“This acquisition is a source of enormous pride for ELEVEN and represents another step in the strategy of consolidating the premium content portfolio that we currently have for Portugal. From 2022/23, we will exclusively broadcast Europe’s top elite football leagues – according to the UEFA ranking and the fact that we hold the television rights to the biggest club competition in the world, the UEFA Champions League –, the which increasingly reinforces ELEVEN’s weight in the Portuguese market and the commitment we assume to our subscribers.”, says Jorge Pavão de Sousa, Managing Director of ELEVEN in Portugal.
“It is with great enthusiasm that the Premier League announces the new partnership with Eleven Sports in Portugal. ELEVEN offers excellent sports coverage and will be a magnificent home for the Premier League. Thanks to this deal, fans in Portugal can look forward to more live matches than ever,” says Paul Molnar, Premier League Chief Media Officer.
The Premier League has a huge Portuguese contingent of world-class players, including: Cristian Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes (Man. United), Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias (Man. City), Diogo Jota (Liverpool) or José Sá, João Moutinho, Pedro Neto and Ruben Neves(Wolverhampton), among many other Portuguese stars, as well as coaches like Nuno Espírito Santo (Tottenham) and Bruno Lage (Wolverhampton).
The contracting of Premier League rights thus joins the batch of rights renewals and acquisitions that Eleven has been announcing since the beginning of 2020, and which extend until the 2025 season, with the objective of offering the best content sports to fans in Portugal.
