During the confinement period, Eleven Sports bet on a reinvention and adaptation of sports formats on social networks, as well as a bet on digital electronic sports. The results justify a firm bet, to maintain in the coming months.
In the last two months, Eleven Sports decided to bet on eSports and broadcast a total of more than 30 virtual events, from the most varied events and competitions. In total, the virtual events transmitted by Eleven Sports, under the new concept of eSports Eleven, had about 1 million views.
“With three channels on the air, and without live sports content, we had to adapt to a new format, without neglecting fans’ expectations and preferences. The bet on eSports was a natural path that the pandemic only accelerated, as well as the creation of formats for social networks, to be with the fans ”, says Nuno Filipe Miranda, Marketing and Communication Director at Eleven Sports Portugal.
Among the eSports content transmitted by Eleven Sports, during the months of social confinement, there are virtual events from some of the most prestigious leagues and global events, such as tournaments and competitions in LaLiga, Bundesliga, FIFA, F1, Formula E, DTM, eCycling and local content such as Virtual Race of Portugal, tournament #JogamosEmCasa Cup and the Racing Series (still in progress).
Eleven Sports debuts on Twitch and innovates in social media formats
During this confinement period, Eleven Sports ‘commitment to new formats also included reinforcing the interaction with fans on social networks. In addition to debuting with a channel on Twitch, Eleven Sports also broadcast eSports competitions, live, via Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, as well as on the streaming and television service.
In total, there were about 100 hours of direct and 1 million video views.
