Eliana Rosa launches Mornabeza

Artist confirmed at AME - Atlantic Music Expo

Cape Verdean artist Eliana Rosa has launched the EP Mornabeza. It is a work with 4 tracks, produced by Danny Fonseca, in a completely independent process.

This EP has a lot of identity with Cape Verde and the artist herself, presenting compositions in funaná, morna and coladera and exploring themes of love, longing and everyday life.

The single to advance the work is called “Um sol”, which came out with a video clip directed by Basil da Cunha: a light and fresh film, which conveys Cape Verdean joy and simplicity, even in moments of longing.

Meanwhile, the artist was selected for AME – Atlantic Music Expo, which takes place in Cape Verde at the beginning of April, where she will perform in a showcase with a band. This is an excellent opportunity for the artist to introduce herself in depth to the music industry, in an event that is now in its 11th edition and that every year brings to the city of Praia producers of shows from all over the world, specialized press, etc.

Owner of a warm and soft voice, with a powerful stage presence and a style that mixes tradition and modernity, Eliana Rosa affirms her African identity, adding Latin energy to the Cape Verdean rhythms of batuque, funaná, coladera and tabanka, with delightfully light compositions.

Eliana Rosa

Eliana Rosa was born in Santo Antão (Cape Verde) in 2000 but soon moved to Praia, on the island of Santiago. At the age of 16, Eliana began a new life in São Vicente, where she joined the Jorge Barbosa School Choir Group. In 2017, the young artist won the “Todo Mundo Canta – Regional” competition and, soon after the “Todo Mundo Canta – Nacional” competition. She began with regular appearances in musicals, concerts and performances. Although she easily transitions between musical genres, it is in traditional Cape Verdean music that Eliana Rosa manages to express herself in her essence.

In 2019, Eliana moved to Lisbon, beginning her collaboration with “Acácia Maior”, a collective of young Cape Verdean artists.

In 2024, the singer and actress will play the lead role in the film “Manga d’terra” by Basil Da Cunha, a Portuguese-Swiss director. The film was shown in most Portuguese cinemas and received great critical acclaim.
