Elisabete Matos is the new artistic director of the São Carlos Theater

Portuguese soprano Elisabete Matos will take over the artistic direction of the São Carlos National Theater (TNSC) in Lisbon, succeeding Patrick Dickie, the Ministry of Culture announced today.

In a statement, the guardian thanked Patrick Dickie “the commitment and professionalism with which he performed his duties,” about which the official said in June, unable to continue.

With an international career of more than 25 years, soprano Elisabete Matos has performed in world famous stages such as the Metropolitan Opera House of New York in the United States, Deutsche Oper of Berlin in Germany and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy.

She is an assistant professor at the School of Applied Arts since 2014 and, since 2017, artistic director of the Guimarães International Festival of Religious Music.
