Elton John won an EGOT after triumphing in the 2024 edition of the Emmy Awards

The musician made history by winning, throughout his career, an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Award.

World-renowned superstar Elton John joined the elite group of EGOT winners after winning the Emmy for Best Variety Special for the concert film “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium”, on the Disney+ platform.

Elton John said: “I feel incredibly honoured to be joining the extremely talented group of EGOT winners. The journey to this moment has been one of passion, dedication, and unwavering support from my fans around the world. Tonight was a testament to the power of art and the joy it brings to our lives. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my career, I feel incredibly grateful.”

The historic three-hour concert, broadcast live on Disney Branded Television and produced by Fulwell 73 and Rocket Entertainment, gave Disney+ audiences a front-row seat to this electrifying and legendary performance as they bid farewell to North America. Billed as one of the greatest farewells of all time, artists, entertainers and special guests, together with a stadium full of fans and admirers from all over the world, celebrated the epic moment that took place at Dodger Stadium, paying tribute to the concert that gave in 1975 which consolidated its worldwide success.

In the past, the musician won two Oscars – Best Original Song for “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from “Rocketman” and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” from “The Lion King” -, a Tony Award for Best Original Soundtrack for “Aida” and six Grammys, including the Grammy Legend Award. Elton John thus joined the exclusive group of just 24 artists who have won Hollywood’s highest honour.
