In October there is music in the churches of Lagos

Integrated in the “Bezaranha” regional cultural programming project, the “Ciclo Música no Altar” presents shows in the historic and beautiful churches of the municipality of Lagos, on Saturdays in October, in a perfect symbiosis between music and heritage. Ângela Silva, João Rosa, Paulo Ribeiro, João Pedro Cunha, Elena Tsouranova and Josué Nunes are the artists who will dazzle the viewers of this cultural initiative.

Em oração” (“Praying“) is the theme of the show by opera singer Ângela Silva and musician João Rosa at Igreja de Santa Maria on October 2nd. In this singing and piano recital, the artists’ songs will focus on the themes of spirituality, faith and devotion, regardless of each one’s beliefs. On the 9th, it is the turn of the multi-instrumentalist Paulo Ribeiro to fill Igreja da Luz with the sound of various instruments, interpreting a vast repertoire ranging from Mozart to Paganini, passing through Beethoven and Chopin. The perfect union between violin and piano is what João Pedro Cunha and Elena Tsouranova propose on the 16th, at the Church of S. Sebastião, with an introspective and passionate recital that will pay homage to great composers such as Handel and Piazzolla. The music cycle closes on the 23rd, at the Igreja de Bensafrim, with a classical guitar concert by Josué Nunes, an Algarve musician who will recall themes by Heitor Villa-Lobos and Francisco Tárrega.

The event is part of the “BEZARANHA – Há ventos que vêm por bem”, a cultural network programming project in the region, which results from the application of AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community to the Algarve Regional Operational Program (CRESC Algarve 2020), involving the sixteen municipalities and having as main objective the cultural revitalization and enhancement of the territory.

As usual in all events promoted by the municipality of Lagos, this initiative will follow a strict contingency plan and strict compliance with the norms of the General Directorate of Health for the safety of all.

The “Ciclo Música no Altar” takes place on October 2, 9, 16 and 23 (Saturdays), at 7 pm, in four churches in the municipality of Lagos. Access is free, but, given the limited capacity, registration is mandatory through the online form available here.

Be part of this unforgettable musical experience in a special setting full of history!
