Emilio Moret will perform at the Municipal Auditorium of the Seixal Cultural Forum on October 4th (Saturday) at 9:30 pm, the municipality’s chosen venue for World Music Day. Moret is one of the most representative voices of the Cuban musical tradition, promising an unforgettable concert.
Born in Encrucijada, Vila Clara province, Cuba, Emilio Moret became a prominent voice in the son genre, standing out as a composer, arranger, and tresero. Born in 1948, the artist studied at the Ignacio Cervantes Conservatory (Havana) and, for over four decades, was a member of emblematic Cuban music groups. He is the author and composer of over 80 tracks, some of which are part of the most representative repertoire of emblematic Cuban groups with whom he has performed throughout his career, such as Niño Rivera, Orquesta Cuba, Conjunto Chapotin, and Septeto Habanero, among others.
His warm voice, interpretation, and distinctive timbre convey the soul and history of son, preserving and expanding its profound essence. He participated in Vitorino’s album “La Habana 99,” released by EMI Valentim de Carvalho, alongside Septeto Habanero, a group with which he remained for 20 years. Starting in 2020, with the now century-old group, he spread the uniqueness of the son genre across several continents. In 2023, he released “Por La Felicidad” on the Lusafrica label, an album that draws influences from Portugal and Cape Verde, preserving one of the most iconic sounds of his country’s musical tradition.
