Between July and September there are films and Vinho Verde to be enjoyed outdoors.

Sessions take place between “the most beautiful house in Porto” and nine farms in the Region

The cycle of “Cinema in the Vineyard” promoted by the Viticulture Commission of the Vinho Verde Region (CVRVV) returns on July 6th and, until September, around two dozen films will be on display at different farms in the Region and in the gardens of the Casa dos Vinhos Verdes, in Porto, which include wine tasting and other activities prepared in each location.

Curated by Paulo Cunha and Tiago Fernandes, the 2023 edition of the open-air cinema cycle has “The Terroir” as its theme, transposing the concept focused on a type of cinema that is also centered on a particular territory from vitiviniculture to the screen. with distinctive traits which reproduce unique images and sounds that serve as raw material for unique works.

Departing from a journey that begins in Japan and ends in Brazil, the cinema cycle’s programming addresses various latitudes and sui generis cultures, which deserve to be observed and listened to with the greatest attention and duly accompanied by a glass of Vinho Verde.

“This cycle of cinema in the vineyard has already been sought after by various audiences in the city of Porto and in the Region for some years, so this year we decided to reinforce the program and choose terroir as the central theme for trips around the world throughout the summer. We bet on a relaxed format that allows you to visit the Palacete and enjoy the gardens, at the same time you can taste the wines of the Region, ice cream created from iconic grape varieties, and other products that harmonize perfectly. On farms, the hospitality of the producers and the growing offer of wine tourism that is asserting itself throughout the Region guarantee exclusive programs in different places, always celebrating Vinho Verde”, highlights Dora Simões, President of CVRVV.

Sessions start at 9:30 pm and are limited to a maximum of 50 people. Tickets are available at www.vinhoverde.pt or through the contacts of each participating space.

In the “Most beautiful house in Porto”, just spread the blanket on the grass and enjoy the river view

At nº 318, Rua da Restauração, the gardens of Casa do Vinho Verde offer the unique setting of the Douro River to host a movie screen and enjoy the summer nights with visits to the Palacete, Vinho Verde tastings, Vinho Verde ice creams, and good films. From 20:15, the doors open to those who want to know the former Palacete Silva Monteiro with a guided tour that explains the historical background and curiosities about the architectural details of that iconic building in Porto in the 19th century.

In the gardens, there are tastings of Vinhos Verdes of different profiles, from the lightest and freshest to the most intense, structured, and aged Vinhos Verdes. On warm nights, the Alvarinho, Vinhão, Loureiro, and Avesso ice creams present the aromas and flavors of those grape varieties from the Region in a fresh format created by Chef António Vieira.

With mandatory registration, the sessions cost 10 euros per person and include a guided tour of Palacete Silva Monteiro, Vinho Verde tastings, and a movie session. Until September, there are a dozen films to see:
