“3 Palmas na Mão” show with new dates
in Loulé, Vale de Cambra, Vila Nova de Gaia and Lisbon
After postponing the concerts of the show “3 Palmas na Mão” at the Teatro Maria Matos, in Lisbon, until July 22nd and 23rd, Jorge Palma, Vicente and Francisco announce new dates: May 2nd, at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, in Loulé; the 16th at CAE in Vale de Cambra; and May 23rd at the Municipal Auditorium of Vila Nova de Gaia.
“3 palmas na mão” started as the name of the group of Jorge, Vicente and Francisco Palma, on Whatsapp, until it became a song – which we can hear on Jorge Palma’s most recent album, VIDA –, but it is, above all, a musical embrace between Jorge Palma and his children that is now manifested live.
When listening to “3 palmas na mão”, we can discern the familiarity of the tones and the message. When played live, the song leaves no one indifferent, fulfilling its purpose: to unite “3 palmas” that “nothing and no one will separate”.
“And here comes a new vocal/instrumental trio in Portugal – 3 claps in hand – made up of a father and his two sons. I am proud to have them with me on stage and to realise that, in some way, music lives in them as it lives in me. But, above all, I am happy and excited to have Vicente and Francisco as fellow musicians, talented and capable of putting on this show.
Therefore, anyone who thinks they are going to watch a poorly put-together show, with the daddy and his children complacently pulling the emotion and tears out of the audience’s eyes, is mistaken. These concerts are guided by the rigour of individual and collective performance, by the choice of instruments and arrangements, song by song, and by an alignment that aims to be intelligent and practical.
The most substantial part consists of revisited songs of mine, from the first to the most recent album of unreleased songs, but there will also be room for covers of songs that mean a lot to the three of us. Perhaps there are still solos by Vicente and Francisco, from their songs or others, but it is still too early to talk about that. We are very excited about the project, and we will do our best”, described Jorge Palma.
Palmas thus opens the door to their musical universe, in a show where it is guaranteed that the complicity that unites them will be shared with the public.
