The show entitled “Saltos Altos” marks the opening of the 2021/22 Artistic Season of the Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias, on the next 1st of September, and the President of Camara Miguel Silva Gouveia was present at the presentation press conference with Ricardo Araújo from production, Juliana Andrade responsible for the creation, artistic direction and choreographies, and Diana Pita responsible for creation and direction of actors.
Miguel Silva Gouveia began by announcing that this was “a doubly happy day”, as it became known that Teatro Baltazar Dias was included in the National Theater Network, “this allows us to look to the future with good perspectives of cooperation at the national level, which will further enrich the Municipal Theater’s programming, since in addition to the CMF’s investment, we will also have funding from the Ministry of Culture to be able to stage several shows.”
The mayor then went on to present the show “Saltos Altos”, an investment of €28,500 by the Municipality of Funchal in co-production with RA Produções Artísticas by Ricardo Araújo, “this is an original project, in the form of a ballet, which comes to address important issues in the female universe today, such as gender equality, harassment, injustices imposed by society’s standards, obstacles in family life, access to jobs, among others.”
“This is a project that encourages us to reflect on the role of women in today’s society and on how each one of us can contribute to a fairer, more equal society, where we can look at all people without any gender distinction. The work that the CMF has been carrying out in this area is carried out in the most varied fields, and this time we united the cultural and social aspects on the platform so that we can continue to alert and to fight for equality”, he added.
The show has a cost of 7 euros and will be on stage at the Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias from September 1st to 5th, and is intended for audiences over 16 years old. The cast includes young and renowned regional artists, which gives greater visibility to regional talent, with 13 dancers, 2 actors and 2 musicians.
