Luís Perloiro, who made his debut by winning the MEO Surf League, and Francisca Veselko, who was the winner of the last two editions of the Somersby Porto Pro, won the inaugural stage of the MEO Surf League 2025 and, therefore, lead the national ranking, having the right to wear the yellow Go Chill jersey in the North of the country.
Luís Perloiro, number 1 in the men’s ranking of the MEO Surf League 2025
“Arriving in Porto and Matosinhos wearing the yellow Go Chill jersey will not change my approach to the MEO Surf League. I did not start this year with a specific goal of getting a result in the MEO Surf League, as my goal is to compete with the best national surfers, maintain my surfing level as high as possible and, above all, have fun and ride good waves, which is what I enjoy most. In recent years, I have understood that competition is not the reason why I surf; it is really the pleasure I feel when I am in the water surfing. This does not mean that I do not like to compete or that I do not take it seriously.”
Francisca Veselko, number 1 in the women’s ranking of the MEO Surf League 2025
“Moments come and go. I have been working towards a long-term project, and that is the process I need to focus on. Of course, starting the year with victories helps with confidence, motivation and the continuation of the work. I am aware that things have only just begun and there is a long way to go, but the focus is still on one step at a time, one stage at a time. The Challenger Series circuit is very tough, very competitive, and I don’t want to get carried away by this year’s victories. For the Somersby Porto Pro, as with every stage, I am going to win and I will do everything I can to repeat the victory I had in Figueira da Foz.”
Somersby Porto Pro 2024 in numbers:

– 1031 waves surfed by 96 registered surfers
– Best wave (maximum 10 points): Teresa Bonvalot, 9.50 points
– Best score (maximum 20 points): Teresa Bonvalot, 18.85 points
