Ethiopian victories Getachew and Dadiso in the Lisbon Marathon
Ethiopian athletes Limenih Getachew, in men, with a new record of the race, in 2: 07.24 hours, and Kuftu Dediso in women, won today the 2018 edition of the Lisbon Marathon.
In the men’s event, Getachew fled two kilometers from the finish to beat Kenyan forward Samuel Wanjiku, who was the former record holder of the event and was second in 2: 07.51, and Kenyan Justus Kimutai, third, with a personal record of 2: 07.58.
The test ended up having a good level, since the weather helped, with nine athletes, all African, closed it in less than 2:10 hours.
The 10th and best non-African, was the Portuguese Hermano Ferreira, athlete of Benfica, who, after going through many physical difficulties, ended in 2: 10.11.
In the women’s event, Dediso was always ahead and won with a new personal record of 2: 24.56, clearly surpassing Kenyan Monica Jepkoech, second, 2: 27.35, and Ethiopian Tigist Memuye, third, with 2: 28.35.
The best Portuguese was Rosa Madureira, from Penafiel, who finished in sixth place in 2: 47.17.
