Eurocity Hosts the Show “Fado Alexandrino” from the National Theatre of São João

The Eurocity Valença.Tui will host, on the 31st of January, the show “Fado Alexandrino” from the National Theatre of São João. This magnificent presentation will take place at the Teatro Municipal de Tui, at 8 pm (PT).

This is a theatrical adaptation of what is considered the great novel with which the company joins the events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.

This show arrives at Eurocidade Valença.Tui as part of the Transversal Season of the Portugal-Spain Cultural Program: 50 years of democracy.

Tickets will be on sale from next Friday, January 24th, at tui.gal for €9 and €12.

Twelve actors and actresses make up the cast of the play directed by Nuno Cardoso, who directed the stage adaptation and dramaturgy of “Fado Alexandrino” by António Lobo Antunes.

On stage will be Ana Brandão, António Afonso Parra, Flavio Hamilton, Joana Carvalho, Jorge Mota, Lisa Reis, Mario Santos, Patricia Queirós, Paulo Freixinho, Pedro Almendra, Pedro Frias, Roldy Harrys, Sandro Feliciano, Sergio Sá Cunha, Telma Cardoso and Le Baldé.

The work, a kind of Last Supper, brings together five characters, soldiers who returned from the war in Africa, for dinner and reflect on the end of the conflict, mourning, etc.

The stage is transformed into an immense mural that comes to life with the interpretation and interaction of the actors who take the spectator through four eras that intersect in history: the Estado Novo, the memory of the colonial war in Mozambique, the Carnation Revolution and the Revolution post-Revolution.

Fado Alexandrino is an allegory about the destiny of being Portuguese. The original song “Peixe” was recorded by Joel Azevedo.

The play lasts approximately four hours and has two intervals.
