European Under-20 Rugby Championship in Coimbra from 30 March to 7 April
The Chamber of Coimbra decided today to make available the Sérgio Conceição Stadium and to support with 35 thousand euros the accomplishment of the European Championship of Sub-20 Rugby in the city, between 30 March and 7 of April.
The decision makes the municipality of Coimbra again the partner of the Regional Rugby Committee of the Center and the Portuguese Rugby Federation in organizing the main European competition of the modality in the respective echelon, stresses the House in the proposal, which today was approved by unanimity, by the municipal executive.
In addition to the provision of the Taveiro Municipal Stadium (Sérgio Conceição), the Chamber will allocate “a financial contribution of 35 thousand euros”, among other support, such as “exemption from payment of fees”, in the amount of three thousand euros, and the “guarantee of the presence of an ambulance and its crew” of the Company of Firefighters Sapadores in the enclosure.
Coimbra already hosted the European Under-20 Rugby Championship in 2018, in which Portugal won the championship twice, winning in Spain (25-3) in the Sérgio Conceição Stadium in the final.
