Tape Junk | Centro Cultural Malaposta

April 1st | 10 pm

Tape Junk’s return to record editions in 2019 took place in cassette format and on all digital platforms. The nine themes of the album were recorded and mixed at home by João Correia, between January 2016 and September 2018.

“Couch Pop” was written without haste, outside the urban environment and the songs were constantly changing even until the day the mixes started. The instruments were all registered by the band’s mentor, who only counted on the participation of António Vasconcelos Dias (Tape Junk, Benjamim, Golden Slumbers) in the synthesizers. Harry Nilsson, Sly and The Family Stone, Shuggie Ottis and Paul McCartney were some of the names that accompanied the musician during the creation period of the third original work.

In addition to Tape Junk – who edited “The Good & The Mean” and a self-titled album – João Correia founded Julie & The Carjackers and They’re Heading West. He is currently a drummer for several independent bands, including Benjamim and Bruno Pernadas.

“Couch Pop” is a Pataca Discos edition and hit stores in March 2019. “Cranberry and Thyme” and “General Population” were the first singles to present this third original work. Live, João Correia has António Vasconcelos Dias, Benjamim, Frankie Chavez and Nuno Lucas.
