Event in Católica welcomes experts in film education

July 10, from 10:00 am, in the Auditorium Ilídio Pinho of the School of Arts

Núria Aidelman, (from the Association A Bao A Qu) and Elsa Mendes (coordinator of the National Film Plan), prominent figures in film education, are two of the names that will be at the School of Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University for the II Meeting of Cinema and Education, for teachers of primary and secondary education.

This meeting, whose new edition is held on July 10, was born in 2023 under the INSERT project, which aims to promote film literacy in several national schools.

“INSERT began as a research project and is now a digital film literacy strategy, based on a set of online resources, targeted at educational contexts,” explains Pedro Alves, coordinator of the INSERT research project and professor at the School of Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto. A project developed by the Center for Research in Science and Technology of the Arts (CITAR), with the support of the Foundation for Science and Technology and partnership with the National Cinema Plan. “In total, there are 20 tutorial videos and 1 pedagogical notebook on cinematic theory and practice, disseminated digitally and in open access” explains Pedro Alves. “It did not make sense to promote this type of strategy without also creating an annual meeting to discuss the results of this and other ongoing projects in the field of film education. We consider this an educational, cultural and social responsibility of the School of Arts and CITAR,” completes the project coordinator.
