Three concerts, “masterclasses” and “workshops” are part of the program of the II International Percussion Festival of Évora, which will take place at the Convento dos Remédios and the Garcia de Resende Theater, from Friday to Sunday, was released today.
The event, promoted by the Association and the Évora Regional Conservatory “Eborae Mvsica”, has artistic direction by Vasco Ramalho, with the advisors/trainers Aldovino Munguambe, Javier Nandayapa, André Silva, Pedro Sousa and Ze Luis S Picnic, highlighted the organization.
The opening concert, at 21:30 on Friday, at the Convento dos Remédios, will be performed by Al Marafado Trio, with Aldovino Munguambe as special guest.
On Saturday night, in the same place and at the same time, it is Javier Nandayapa’s turn to perform, in a show with special participation by Rui Quintas and João Ramalho, explained “Eborae Mvsica”.
The festival’s closing concert is scheduled for 7 pm Sunday at the Garcia de Resende Theater, involving “all participants,” the organization said.
As for the “masterclasses” and “workshops” that are part of the program of the II International Évora Percussion Festival, “they aim to contribute to the technical and artistic development of the students” and the sharing of “individual and collective experiences”.
The promotion and appreciation of the “work developed by the trainees” is another purpose of these components of the event, which are also intended to “motivate progress in learning” and provide contact and work “with big names in the national and international music scene”, they added. the organizers.
The artistic director of the event studied at the Évora Professional School of Music and at the University of Évora, where he graduated in percussion in 2005, and then, between 2006 and 2008, attended a postgraduate degree in solo marimba at the Royal Conservatory Antwerp, in Belgium.
She has participated in international courses and festivals and, in 2017, launched her first CD, ‘Vasco Ramalho – Essences of Marimba, Fados & Choros’. He is also a member of Duo Gurimbadu, with guitarist Eudoro Grade, a project that has performed in several countries.
The 2nd International Percussion Festival of Évora is funded by the Ministries of Culture, through the Directorate General of Arts, and Education, and is supported by the Évora Chamber and the Évora Dramatic Center (Cendrev).
