Expresso Transatlântico releases new single “Avalanche”
After announcing the release of their highly anticipated second album of new songs in early 2026, Expresso Transatlântico now reveals “Avalanche,” their second single.
The project of Gaspar Varela, Sebastião Varela, and Rafael Matos is one of the most acclaimed new groups on the music scene today and has been conquering major national and international stages and festivals since 2021, with hundreds of shows.
“Avalanche,” according to the band, is “a dense and enveloping sound wave, charged with tension and mystery, which absorbs the strength and freedom of the landscapes we explored during the composition process of this work: Serra da Estrela, Foz do Arelho, and Brotas.”
The song is now available on all digital platforms.
The music video for the new single is, as always, directed by Sebastião Varela and was filmed with a miniDV camera between Lisbon, Tokyo, and Osaka, accompanying the band’s travels on their recent Japan tour.
“From a position of immersive, almost voyeuristic discovery, the images ultimately reflect the exploratory capacity of the music in an uncompromising tone,” reveals the director.
Produced by Paulo Furtado (aka The Legendary Tigerman), this upcoming album promises to mark a turning point in the Expresso Transatlântico musical journey, without losing its soul and the fusion of sounds that characterise it.
