Expresso Transatlântico releases new single “Tigre da Serra”
After announcing the release of their second album for early 2026 and special presentation shows in March, Expresso Transatlântico now reveals “Tigre da Serra,” the third single released.
The project by Gaspar Varela, Sebastião Varela, and Rafael Matos is one of the most acclaimed new groups on the current music scene and has been conquering the main stages and festivals nationally and internationally since 2021, in hundreds of shows.
After “Flor Trovão” and “Avalanche,” “Tigre da Serra” is the third single that continues to pave the way for a new chapter in this transatlantic journey, towards new soundscapes. The song is now available on all digital platforms.
“Tigre da Serra” is, according to the band, “one of the first songs we composed for the album. The first demos emerged during the winter in Manteigas, and they were finalised almost a year later in Alentejo.
For us, it’s one of the songs on the album that best represents this process of composing in different settings, making each one a place of experimentation. It’s a song that travels and was with us from the beginning to the end of the production of this album.
Until the previous album, we were always composing in Lisbon, and there was already a great desire to leave our comfort zone and do residencies in places that weren’t so familiar to us. All these places were, in fact, a discovery and the atmosphere they gave us was very important to us, both sonically and personally.”
Produced by Paulo Furtado (The Legendary Tigerman), this upcoming full-length album promises to mark a turning point in the musical journey of Expresso Transatlântico, without losing the soul and fusion of sounds that characterise it.
And the band adds: “Working with Paulo opened up new horizons for the initial ideas we already had for this album, and feeling that we had the right producer working with us gave us great freedom throughout the entire process. We greatly admire Paulo’s work and have wanted to work with him for a long time. He embraced the project beautifully, and we were all very happy with the work we did.”
