Fábio Costa finishes 21st in the World Cycling Championships

Fábio Costa finished in the 21st position in the U-23 World Cycling Championship, won by the Italian Filippo Baroncini in Leuven, Belgium.

Baroncini cut the line isolated, spending 3.37.36 hours to complete the 161.1 kilometers between Antwerp and Leuven. Biniam Ghirmay Hailu gave the first ever medal to Eritrea, being second, two seconds behind the Italian.

The bronze medal went to Dutch Olav Kooij, who was part of the main group, in a race in which Italy placed three cyclists in the top-10.

Fábio Costa, who was on the run, arrived in the main group, two seconds behind Baroncini, ranking 21st, as did Pedro Miguel Lopes (33rd).

Carlos Salgueiro finished the race in 91st position, nine minutes and 43 seconds behind the winner.
