Facebook tests tags to contextualize pages
Facebook is now testing tags that appear for the purpose of contextualizing the pages to which they are added. That way, they will be less exposed to disagreements.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]hey are being applied gradually and, although promising, they are still part of a Facebook experience. For example, the pages of politicians will be labeled as “civil servant”, while fan pages or humorous pages will be marked as such.
The tags will appear next to the pages when they appear in the Facebook feed. When it happens, you can expand them and see them explained. These tags to contextualize the pages will be another step that may take time to reach all users, because, in addition to being still in the experimental phase, it is only available in the USA.
Starting today in the US, we’re testing a way to give people more context about the Pages they see. We’ll gradually start applying labels including 'public official,' 'fan page' or 'satire page' to posts in News Feed, so people can better understand who they’re coming from. pic.twitter.com/Bloc3b2ycb
