‘Father of the Internet’ lauds data protection law
Tim Berners-Lee was the first guest at this year’s Web Summit to take the stage at Altice Arena.
After Web Summit founder Paddy Cosgrave kicked off the 2018 edition of the event, Tim Berners-Lee took on the stage of what is known as the ‘father of the Internet’. With a full-blown Altice Arena, Berners-Lee argued that the right to privacy is “a fundamental right.”

“The conversation has changed with the General Regulation on Data Protection (RGPD),” noted Berners-Lee, arguing that the data protection law that was adopted by the European Union this year should help more countries and big technology think about the subject matter.
