Fern Silva’s film awarded at Cinéma du Réel festival
‘Rock Bottom Riser’ (2021, United States), whose original music is by Sergei Tcherepin & Lea Bertucci, was presented at the French festival after being in Berlin, where it received an honorable mention.
[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ern Silva, Portuguese-American born in 1982, son of Portuguese who emigrated to the United States, is a visual artist and film director, with artistic work already shown in the context of festivals, art galleries, and museums. Currently lives in Athens.
He has more than a dozen short films, including ‘Notes from a bastard child’ (2007), which was part of the IndieLisboa festival, and ‘Ride light lightning, crash like thunder‘ (2017), shown at Curtas de Vila of the Count.
In this edition of the Cinéma du Réel festival, the film ‘The Inheritance‘, by Ephraim Asili, was distinguished with the Grand Prize of the jury.
The prize for the international selection was given to ‘Odoriko‘, by Yoichiro Okutani (Japan/United States/France), and the prize for the first short film was for ‘Feast‘, by Tim Leyendekker, from the Netherlands, while the prize from the audience went to ‘Wadi Jhannam‘, by Zoé Filloux (France).
The international competition featured 11 feature films and 10 short films, among which, in addition to Fern Silva’s ‘Rock Bottom Riser’, the experimental film ‘Armor‘, by Portuguese producer and director Sandro Aguilar.
At the 43rd edition of the Cinéma du Réel, organized by the Pompidou Center in Paris, the film ‘And now? Remember me ‘(2013), by Joaquim Pinto, documentary about a year of clinical trials that the director underwent for the treatment of the Hepatitis C virus.
