Fernando Pimenta ended his participation in the European Championships, with the victory in K1 5000 meters in Munich, beating Spaniard Walter Bouzan in a tight race, with a time of 20:14.447, leaving the second at 3.212 seconds, Rafal Rosolski completed the podium.

The Ponte de Lima canoeist competed in nine events and won a gold, a silver, and a bronze medal, in the K1 5000 meters, K1 1000 meters, and K1 500 meters categories, respectively.
