Fernando Pimenta, Benfica’s canoeist was the first in K1 5000 meters.
[dropcap type=”background”]I[/dropcap]n the highest place of the podium in the World Cup of canoeing, in Duisburg, Germany. The Portuguese beat the competition and won the gold medal in K1 5000 meters.
Concluding the course at 19: 39.656 minutes, and gave no chance to Max Hoff, second with 19: 40.854. Joakim Lindberg took the test in 19: 46.831 minutes and finished third.
For Fernando Pimenta this was the 86th international medal, to have won the bronze in the test of 500 meters a week.
In women’s K1 500, Joana Vasconcelos was in 18th position, with the time of 23: 42.02, a race won by Alyce Burnettcom 21: 45.433.
In the K4 500 male, João Ribeiro, Messias Baptista, Emanuel Silva and David Varela finished in 6th, and in the K4 500 female, Joana Vasconcelos, Teresa Portela, Francisca Laia and Francisca Carvalho were fourth, three-thousandths of a second of the bronze.
