Barreiro Festivities returned with an excellent lineup. After Syro, Festa M80, and Diego Miranda, it was Profjam’s turn to take the main stage, replacing Marisa Liz.
Mário Cotrim, who adopted ProfJam as his stage name, is a Portuguese rapper and hip-hop artist recognised as one of the most important figures in the “hip hop tuga” (Portuguese term for national hip-hop) scene. He was another big name to take the stage at the Barreiro Festivities.
Taking a journey through his most well-known, yet also recent, tracks, he captivated an audience that embraced him and counted on him from start to finish. An idol for many young people who follow him from show to show, they had another memorable performance in Barreiro.
ProfJam began his musical career in 2008 and became known to the public at the Portuguese rap competition “Liga Knockout.” He graduated in audio production in London in 2016 and founded his record label, Think Music Records.
His rise to mainstream success was cemented with the release of his album #FFFFFF in 2019. The album’s songs were a huge success, with almost every track reaching the top 100 of the Portuguese singles charts. The single “Tou Bem,” featuring Lhast, was particularly successful, topping the charts in Portugal and racking up millions of views and streams.
In 2023, he released the album MDID, which also performed exceptionally well, with 23 of its 25 tracks entering the top 200 on a major streaming platform.
ProfJam has been nominated for and won several awards throughout his career. He was nominated for the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Portuguese Artist in 2019 and received several nominations at the PLAY – Portuguese Music Awards, including Best Music Video in 2020.
